RE: INVITATION TO THE 2006 DIOCESAN ASSEMBLY


WHEN & WHERE

The 2006 Diocesan Assembly will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Orthodox Church in LasSt. Paul the Apostle Orthodox Church Vegas, Nevada from Monday, October 2 through Wednesday, October 4, 2006.

On Monday, October 2, delegates may pick up their assembly badges at St. Paul the Apostle Church from 1:00 PM. Snacks will be provided. 

Vespers will be served at 6:00 PM followed by a reception. 

The Diocesan Council will gather for dinner and a pre-assembly meeting at 7:00 PM.

The Diocesan Assembly will begin on Tuesday at 8:00 AM with a Hierarchical Liturgy, followed by brunch and assembly sessions, including the presentation of the 2007 budget. 

There will be a retirement banquet at 7:00 PM for His Grace, Bishop Tikhon at Sunset Gardens.  Transportation to and from Sunset Gardens will be provided for those needing it.

On Wednesday, the assembly will resume with elections and report summaries. The Diocesan Council, including newly elected members will meet following lunch and the last session.

A complete agenda and schedule, as well as reports, will become available on-line.

REGISTRATION

Note:  Registration deadline has passed as of 9/10/06.  Delegates must register at the assembly registration desk.

This is the last year mail-in registration will be possible.  We encourage you to use the on-line registration forms. 

CLERGY may register for the assembly on-line, or by printing and mailing the clergy registration form.  Clergy assembly fees are covered by the parish Assembly Assessment. The invoice for this assessment will be mailed separately to parishes the week of July 24.

LAY DELEGATES may register for the assembly on-line, or by printing and mailing the delegate registration form.  Delegate assembly fees are covered by the parish Assembly Assessment. The invoice for this assessment will be mailed separately to parishes the week of July 24..

OBSERVERS and COMMUTERS may register on-line, or by printing and mailing the observer or commuter form.  A fee of $40.00 is required to cover the cost of snacks and meals provided on the church premises.  This fee does not cover the cost of the banquet.  See below.  If registering on-line, please mail in your check promptly.

SPOUSES: Delegates, both Clergy and Lay, and Observers who wish to bring their spouses may do so.  However, those spouses who are not accredited delegates are considered Observers and are subject to the same fees and deadlines as all other Observers.   Register on-line soon for spouses, or print and mail in the observer form.

RETIREMENT BANQUET

Deadline for reservations has passed.

Non-delegates who wish to attend the retirement banquet (buffet style except head table) must RSVP either on-line or via the mail-in form.  For non-delegates, the cost to attend the banquest is $60.00 per person.   Dinner reservations are not guaranteed unless a check for $60.00 per person has been received by the Diocesan Treasurer by the deadline date (September 10, 2006).

NOTE:  All clergy and lay delegates who plan to attend the retirement banquet must RSVP in order for us to have an accurate count for the dinner.  

 

DELEGATE INFORMATION

A complete agenda and schedule, as well as reports, is available on-line.   Delegates are responsible for downloading the report books and reading the material prior to the Assembly.  The report books will not be mailed.

TRANSPORTATION AND DIRECTIONS

Information about McCarran International Airport (Las Vegas):  click here  Pick-up from the airport to to St. Paul's will begin at noon and continue every hour on the the hour until 7:00 pm.  For details, contact Fr. Eric Tosi.

St. Paul's is located at 5400 Annie Oakley Drive in Las Vegas, minutes from McCarran Airport. It is easily accessible from all points of the city. Annie Oakley Drive is east of the airport, between Sandhill Road and Hacienda Drive.

Coming From the West (Airport or The Strip):
Take Russell Road east to Annie Oakley Drive. Go past Maryland Parkway, Eastern Avenue, Pecos Road, Sandhill Road. Turn left at the Annie Oakley Drive stoplight and the Church will be a few blocks down on the right side.

Coming From the East:
Take I-515 to the Russell Road exit. Get off of exit and go west. Annie Oakley Drive will be approximately two miles down on the right. Turn right at the Annie Oakley Drive stoplight and the Church will be a few blocks down on the right side

LODGING

Delegates will make and pay for their own lodging reservations.  

Reservations may be made at Life Giving Spring Retreat Center for $50.00 per night, double occupancy, or $100 per night for a single, if available.  Transportation to and from Boulder City (the retreat center) will be provided.

The Marriott Hotel in Henderson is about ½ mile from the church and charges about $135.00 per night. 

There are other hotels in the area that may also be suitable. Reserve your accommodations as soon as possible.
