WHEN & WHERE: The 2007 Diocesan Assembly will be held at Holy Trinity Cathedral in San Francisco, California on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, and Wednesday, October 3, 2007.

On Monday, October 1, delegate sign-in will be held at Holy Trinity Cathedral after 3:00 PM. Vespers will be held at 5:00 PM.

The Diocesan Council, including Deans and Department Chairs, will have a dinner meeting beginning at 6:00 PM on Monday evening.

On Tuesday, October 2, there will be Divine Liturgy at 10:00 AM and His Grace Bishop Benjamin will be installed as Bishop of San Francisco and The West.  A banquet will be held promptly at 2:00 PM at Castagnola’s at Fisherman’s Warf.  

The Diocesan Assembly will begin on Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM. The assembly will continue on Wednesday, October 3 with a plan to adjourn at about 2:00 PM. The Diocesan Council with newly elected members will have a short meeting following adjournment.

A complete agenda and schedule, as well as reports, will be made available to all registered delegates and observers on this website in September.

BANQUET: The banquet charge for those who are NOT delegates or guests of the Diocese of the West is $70.00 per person.  

Note: To attend only the Liturgy and the Banquet, register using the paper (printed, mail-in) Observer Form click for a copy.  Cross out “Observer Name” on the form, and indicate “Banquet Attender Name.”  Send (mail) in the $70.00 banquet fee along with the form to the address indicated below.

 

REGISTRATION: Assembly registration may be made on-line or by mailing the printed form. 

Clergy and Lay delegates are responsible for making their own travel and hotel arrangements.Parishes are responsible for the cost of travel and accommodations for their delegates.

LODGING:     Holy Trinity Cathedral is located at the corner of Green and Van Ness. There are several hotels/motels within walking distance of the Cathedral.  Below is a list of a few of the hotels/motels nearby.

Please note:

This hotel will hold a block of 15 rooms for now (and more if needed, based on availability) for us.  Currently, they are experiencing high occupancy for the dates of the Assembly.   Here are their special rates:

Non-smoking, Queen, City side:  $145/night + 14% tax
Non-smoking, 2 Queen beds, Bay side:  $159/night + 14% tax
All rates include a deluxe continental breakfast.
Discounted parking, if needed, is $15/night + tax (reg. rates would be $26/night + tax)

CUT OFF DATE FOR RESERVATIONS:  Friday, Sept. 7, 2007   (thereafter, it will be based on availability).  These rates are special rates.  Current rates with comparable hotels in the area are offering rooms at $199/night + tax, and above.

 

DELEGATE FEES: Delegate assembly fees include attendance at the banquet on October 2 as well as assembly materials and snacks. The Parish Assembly Assessment Invoice will be mailed out shortly and is payable by September 1.

 

OBSERVERS and COMMUTERS/FEES: Assembly registration may be done on-line at this website, or by mailing in forms. The fee for observers is $40.00, which covers assembly materials and snacks.  Observers are responsible for making their own travel and hotel arrangements. The cost of the banquet to observers and commuters is $70.00.

SPOUSES: Delegates, both Clergy and Lay, and Observers who wish to bring their spouses may do so.  However, those spouses who are NOT accredited delegates are considered Observers and are subject to the same fees and deadlines as all other Observers.

 

DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING FORMS AND FEES: The deadline for submitting all forms and fees is September 1, 2007.

From Golden Gate Bridge: Follow the signs to "Downtown - Civic Center." From Lombard turn right onto Van Ness Avenue (Hwy. 101). One block past Union Street is Green Street. The Cathedral is located on your right at the corner of Green and Van Ness.

From the Bay Bridge: Take Freeway 101 North to the "S. Van Ness/Golden Gate Bridge" exit. Turn left onto Van Ness Avenue (Hwy. 101). Green Street is past Broadway and Vallejo. The Cathedral is located on your left at the corner of Green and Van Ness.

From San Francisco International Airport: Take Freeway 101 North toward downtown San Francisco. Exit at South Van Ness Avenue/Golden Gate Bridge. Turn left onto Van Ness Avenue (Hwy.101). Green Street is past Broadway and Vallejo. The Cathedral located on your left at the corner of Green and Van Ness.

By BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit): Get off at the Civic Center station. Walk several blocks to Van Ness Avenue and take MUNI as described below.

By MUNI (public bus system): On Van Ness -- take the 42, 47, or 49 to Union Street. Walk back one block to Green Street. The Cathedral is located at the corner of Green and Van Ness.
